Why does Ken Martin refuse to answer these questions if he wants to be the next MNDFL Chair:

Please circulate widely. If a candidate refuses to answer questions don't vote for them. These are very simple questions.

Mr. Ken Martin, candidate for Minnesota Democratic Farmer-Labor Party State Chair;

1. Do you support divestment from Israel?

2. What is your position regarding the 41,000 Minnesotans being forced to work in smoke-filled casinos at poverty wages without any rights under state or federal labor laws?

3. Do you support Mark Dayton's call for a state owned and operated casino to compete with the Indian Gaming Industry?

4. What do you intend to do to make sure Affirmative Action (as distinct from non-discrimination) is enforced in Minnesota?

5. Do you support socialized health care?

6. Are you for the repeal of "at-will hiring; at-will firing" legislation?

7. What specific steps would you take as the State Chair of the MNDFL to make sure Native American Indians are elected to the state legislature and become part of Minnesota's congressional delegation?

8. Could you provide me a copy of the redistricting plan you support for Minnesota?

A program for real change...

* Peace--- end the wars in Iraq, Afghanistan and Libya and shutdown the 800 U.S. military bases on foreign soil.

* A National Public Health Care System - ten million new jobs.

* A National Public Child Care System - three to five million new jobs.

* WPA - three million new jobs.

* CCC - two million new jobs.

* Tax the hell out of the rich and cut the military budget by ending the wars to pay for it all which will create full employment.

* Enforce Affirmative Action; end discrimination.

* Raise the minimum wage to a real living wage

* What tax-payers subsidize in the way of businesses, tax-payers should own and reap the profits from.

* Moratorium on home foreclosures and evictions.

* Defend democracy by defending workers' rights including the right to collective bargaining for improving the lives and livelihoods of working people.

* Roll-back and freeze the price of food, electricity, gas and heating fuels; not wages, benefits or pensions.

* Wall Street is our enemy.

Let's talk about the politics and economics of livelihood for a real change.

All these damn Republican politicians complain about unemployment compensation, food stamps, Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare but who the hell is sucking in all the money doled out through these government programs? Every single cent of the money and services the government pays for goes right into the pockets of business people and doctors--- Republicans. You go to the store and pay for high-priced groceries; who gets the money? Republicans. You get health care services paid for by Medicare; who gets the money? Republicans. You spend your miserly little Social Security check these Republicans complain about; who ends up with the money? Republicans.

Dear Peace-Wanting People,

Residents of Edgartown and Tisbury are introducing a peace-resolution at their spring town meetings. This is an invitation for you to do the same in West Tisbury, Oak Bluffs, Chilmark, and Aquinnah.

Just substitute your town's name for "Tisbury", print the resolution, and ask your selectmen to sponsor it. (Their signatures are likely all that are needed.)

Town of Tisbury, Massachusetts

Proposed Resolution:

This is a resolution by citizens of the Town of Tisbury to end the expenditure of our tax dollars presently being spent for excessive and unaffordable warfare.

Whereas,

1.the financial resources available for use by governments at the local, county, state, and federal levels in the United States are and must be limited, and

2.each man, women, and child in Massachusetts is currently paying, or becoming indebted for approximately $3,200 per year towards the U.S. defense budget (totaling $9,600/yr for a family of three), and

3.a substantial portion of this money funds warfare that creates great and unnecessary harm to the people of Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and to U.S. Military personnel and their families, and

4.education services, infrastructure repairs, other essential public services, and family and private-sector financing in Tisbury have been substantially reduced as a result of excessive military spending.

Now, therefore, be it resolved that the Town of Tisbury Massachusetts directs their Congressional Representative and Senators to oppose all future legislation brought before them that provides additional funding of U.S. warfare and occupation in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, and directs these Congressmen to take productive actions to terminate existing occupation and military operations, and to approve only those funds necessary for the safe and rapid withdrawal of all U.S. troops.
